If Your Cat Is Pregnant!

You definitely are an animal lover? Ain’t you? So you definitely would love to pamper your little pet when she gets pregnant. And yes, that is what exactly a cat needs when she gets pregnant.

The pregnancy process of cats getting ready to deliver kittens is known as ‘queening‘. The average time needed to deliver is 9 weeks. Generally, cats who are four months old are also able to deliver unless she is been spayed.

The queening process may vary because of breeds. Example: A Persian cat will mate when she is 6 months old. And cats usually get pregnant in their first mating. You may notice change in her belly within 3 weeks.

You can be sure of a behavioral change. She might look for more affection. She would follow you everywhere, from one room to another. So do not get irritate and wonder why is she doing it! She might want you to caress her. Expect a change in eating pattern too. So, go and buy few different and healthy fish food during her heat. You want healthy kittens and not dull and weak.

Cats during her heat will love to spend most of their time in sleeping and eating. She would love resting in secluded and warm areas where she can deliver. Like, in your closet, under the table etc. So please do not disturb. Or you can prepare a box and keep it in a quiet place. Fill it with soft towels so feels warm.

You should be sure that your cat is properly vaccinated, so that the kittens yet to be born will not hook up with any infection or diseases, and are born healthy. But do not give any vaccines during her heat.

A Cat will not at all bleed during her heat (pregnancy period) if she does then definitely there is a miscarriage. And you need to consult an Animal Doctor. When she is a day far from delivery, she would not eat anything for that 24 hrs. Keep an eye on her and take-care, you are about to meet your new family members 🙂
